Adoption
Adopting a pet is one of the most exciting times in your
life! Bringing a new family member into your circle can be
rewarding and can enrich your life in ways nothing else can.
It is critical to be ready for a new pet and ready for the
commitment that comes with adopting a pet. Consider your
answers to the following questions to gauge whether you're ready
for a new furry friend:
- Can you commit for the animal's entire life?
- What will you do with the pet if you move?
- If you plan to have children or have them now, have you thought
about selecting a pet that is child friendly?
- Can you afford the sometimes costly medical care that comes
with caring for a pet?
- Will you be retiring during the pet's lifetime and wanting to
travel? Do you want to take the pet with you?
- Are you allowed to have pets where you're living now? Any
restrictions on size or breed?
These are just a few of the many issues to think about when
considering whether now is a good time for you to adopt a pet.
